Pittsburgh Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger recently announced he is helping North Ridgeville Police Department by way of a grant for their K-9 unit.

Over the past NFL season, Roethlisberger's Foundation at the Giving Back Fund distributed more than $170,000 in grants to K-9 units around the country. Their mission is to support K-9 units of police and fire departments throughout the United States with an emphasis on support for service dogs in Pittsburgh.

During the Steelers NFL season, his foundation has distributed grants to K-9 units in the cities and surrounding communities of each regular season away game.

North Ridgeville's Police Department said they will use the money from the grant to purchase and train a dual purpose K-9. Their department is receiving the eighth grant from his foundation.
