LORAIN, Ohio - State troopers said a Lorain County traffic stop netted $11,000 in ecstasy pills and other drugs and sent two people to jail.
Troopers stopped a vehicle along the Ohio Turnpike for a signal violation shortly after 7 p.m. on May 13. Troopers said the passenger admitted to having a small bag of marijuana and a pipe hidden in her purse which was in the trunk.
A probable cause search turned up a perfume box with 596 ecstasy pills, worth an estimated $11,000, troopers said.
The driver, Gordon Williams, 36, and passenger, Paige Darrington, 29, both of Cleveland, were taken to the Lorain County jail. Both are charged with aggravated possession of a schedule I drug and aggravated drug trafficking.
Darrington was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Pretrials for both are scheduled for May 22 at 1 p.m. Darrington posted bail, but Williams remains behind bars.
If convicted each person could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
