Neighbors said they believe up to five cats were shot.

Some in their own backyards.

The cats were pets.

Two of the injured cats were being treated at Porter Pet Hospital in North Olmsted for serious injuries.

Two cats named Howard and Mogley both have stitches.

Mosley was recovering from an infection after being shot.

The cats were shot and pierced by a BB or pellet gun in the 100 block of Hamilton Avenue.

Police were looking for tips about who was targeting pets.

"It's a horrible act. This is a really terrible incident that someone would do this,” said Greg Willey, director of the Friendship Animal Protective League.

Willey, who gives TLC to lost pets, said his humane officers were also looking for tips about the shootings on Hamilton.

He had this advice for cat owners.

"I advise them to bring their cats indoors overnight, but that doesn't protect the community cats that are wandering the neighborhood, at least the resident's cats can be inside until we find out who's behind this,” Willey said.
