A 21-year-old Freeport man is facing charges after authorities recovered nearly $7,000 in marijuana during a traffic stop this past weekend.

On May 26, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers pulled over Matthew E. Hettick for speeding.

Police said they noticed a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Authorities recovered $6,700 of marijuana from the car’s trunk.

Hettick was charged with trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony and possession of marijuana, a fifth degree felony.
