ELYRIA, Ohio - A police chase early Wednesday morning ended with a crash into a Boys and Girls Club in Elyria.
Elyria troopers said they attempted to make a traffic stop for a car traveling on Middle Avenue and Broad Street at which point the vehicle sped off headed south on Middle Avenue.
The chase went on for less than a mile before the vehicle lost control and crashed into the gym area of the Boys and Girls Club of America, located at 1821 Middle Avenue, according to officials.
Troopers said the two people in the vehicle became trapped, and were transported to the hospital in stable condition. According to police, the driver was a woman and the passenger a man.
Troopers said they had been looking for the car all night but could not say why.
The crash left a large hole in the building and damaged the playground.
Police continue to investigate.
