CARLISLE TWP, Ohio - A Mississippi man was seriously injured after he crashed his car early Saturday morning in Carlisle Township.
The Elyria Highway Patrol Post is investigating the crash that happened on State Route 82 at State Route 57 around 4:48 a.m.
The driver, 21-year-old Michael D. Vanderford of Tupelo, Mississsippi, was westbound on State Route 82. Vanderford's vehicle, a 1994 Honda Accord, was driven off the west side of State Route 57, struck two trees and overturned. Vanderford was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the Elyria Memorial Hospital.
Troopers said Vanderford was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
