LORAIN, Ohio - A Lorain mother was convicted of multiple child endangering counts for leaving 7 of her 8 children in a filthy house without food or water.
Erica Perez was found guilty of seven counts of child endangering and resisting arrest in Lorain Municipal Court on Tuesday.
In July, Perez, who was apparently drunk, was arrested during a disorderly conduct call. That's when officers located seven children in the home living in complete filth without food or water and with one bed.
An eighth child was not home at time of Perez's arrest.
A judge sentenced Perez to 42 months in jail, but suspended jail time in exchange for intense supervised probation for three years. Perez must also attend drug and alcohol treatment along with parenting classes.
Perez's children remain in the custody of Lorain County Children and Family Services. LCCFS has investigated Perez's parenting 15 times prior to her July 2012 arrest.
