Neighbors came to the rescue of a Lorain woman who was being chased down by her boyfriend over the weekend.

Police reports said that Luis Samuel Jimenez, 22, was arrested late Sunday night for domestic violence, disrupting public service and felonious assault.

Records show that Jimenez got into a “heated argument” with his 25-year-old girlfriend and had accused her of being unfaithful. He wrestled her phone away when she tried to call police and struck her three times in the face with his fist, in front of her three children, according to the report.

When Marin walked away from the home, Jimenez followed her in a blue Nissan.

“I saw a woman walking and the next thing I know I saw a car flying down the road,” said a neighbor and witness, who asked not to the identified.

Several witnesses told News 5 that they watched Jimenez accelerate towards the woman with his car twice.

She was able to take shelter in the bed of a pick up truck when two men in their twenties came to her aid. One neighbor had a concealed carry permit and used his handgun to defend her. Jimenez reportedly saw the gun and drove away.

One family took in the woman and her children until police arrested Jimenez late Sunday night.

Neighbors were shocked by the scene but grateful that the Good Samaritans stepped in to protect the victim.

“We don’t know what he would have done,” a witness said. “He probably would have hit her and came back and kept trying.”

The victim signed a criminal complaint form for domestic violence and signed a motion for a protection order.
