LORAIN, Ohio - The cold weather created problems for Lorain firefighters as they battled a building fire on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the business along Iowa Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and they were there for several hours.
When they first arrived, crews discovered one truck was frozen and wouldn't spray water. The area surrounding the fire quickly became covered in ice, making it difficult for firefighters to walk around. They also battled temperatures that hovered near zero.
According to firefighters, the fire was at a commercial building that housed party supplies and paper goods. The fire chief told NewsChannel5 the building was a total loss. No injuries were reported.
Elyria and Sheffield Village firefighters assisted Lorain firefighters battle the fire.
