Lorain vs. Elyria brawl cancels holiday games

A high school basketball tournament is canceled after a large fight broke out at Elyria High School Tuesday night following a game.

A witness told newsnet5.com Elyria officers were called in to control the crowd at the high school.

In the video from OhioSportsNet, which can be seen in the player above or below, chaos ensues outside of the Performing Arts Center at Elyria High. A woman can be heard screaming while a police officer yells at her to get on the ground. Eventually, the officer swings the woman around and takes her down. 

LifeCare told newsnet5.com one woman was taken to the hospital, but it was unrelated to the fight. 

The Tuesday night game ended with Lorain beating Elyria 78-62.

newsnet5.com Reporter Sarah Phinney learned Lorain High School was scheduled to play in a championship game Wednesday night and Elyria was supposed to play in a consolation game, but neither of those events will happen now.

Elyria Athletics tweeted around 10 p.m. Tuesday night that holiday classic games for Wednesday were canceled.
