Horses rescued from poor conditions in Grafton

GRAFTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Five horses and other animals were rescued from poor living conditions in Grafton Township Saturday.

The horses had dirty water and were malnourished. Humane officers got a tip call about the farm on Route 303.

They found horses, several chickens, a sheep and a dead goat living in filth with dirty water.

A rescue group is caring for them but they euthanized the sheep, and one of the horses was malnourished.

Mahmoud Abukhali, 41, and Richard Newton, 49 were charged with cruelty to animals and obstructing official business.

Both men deny ownership of the horses. They both pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges in court on Monday. They will be back in court in July.
