Elyria police captain confirms two attempted lurings are related

ELYRIA, Ohio - Elyria Police Captain Chris Constantino confirms to NewsChannel5 that two attempted abductions reported Thursday appear to be related.

A 12-year-old girl was approached around 4:38p.m. in the area of the BP gas station on East Bridge Street when an older white male with gray hair in his 50s or 60s driving a white van pulled alongside her and asked if she need a ride home, Constantino said. The girl ran away to a nearby gas station and called for help.

Around 5:15 p.m., an older white male driving a white van reportedly pulled up alongside a group of young girls and asked all of the them if they need a ride home. The girls took off and alerted their families.

According to Constantino, residents reported seeing the van in the area throughout the week in the white, GMC van.
