Driver killed in Columbia Township crash, OSHP searching for pickup truck driver

COLUMBIA TWP, Ohio - State Route 252, between State Route 82 and Sprague Road, is reopened as of 7pm Saturday after a fatal crash.
The crash happened around 8:40 a.m. on SR 252 south and Redfern Road in Columbia Township.
David Makaryk, 44, of Columbia Station, Ohio was driving a 2003 Black Ford Fusion, southbound on SR 252. Makaryk’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck two utility poles before coming to a rest.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
A witness to the crash reported that Makaryk was traveling at a high rate of speed behind a red Ford F-150 pickup truck just prior to the crash. The pickup truck, driven by a white male, continued southbound on SR 252 and did not stop after the crash.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol are involved at this time.
Emergency crews at the scene closed the road for an several hours while they investiagated and cleared the scene.
