A daycare worker at a synagogue in Lorain found a swastika carved into one of the building's door frames Thursday.

According to Lorain police, the worker at Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue said the vandalism happened sometime between 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday and 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

Underneath the swastika were the words, "we will rise and gas you" followed by an expletive.

The worker said no other damage was found.

At the same time, Beachwood police have upped patrols in the area of the Bet Olam Jewish Cemetery in the wake of cemetery vandalism in Missouri, Philadelphia and New York.

The 26-acre site is home to 12,000 graves including that of News 5's Dorothy Fuldheim.

A 31-year-old man was charged in the Southern District of New York Friday with one count of cyber-stalking for making at least eight threats against Jewish institutions.

The accusation against Thompson accounts for just a small minority of the 101 total bomb threats that have been received by Jewish institutions since 2017 began, according to data from the JCC Association of North America.
