Boyfriend of Elyria day care worker accused of rape charged with complicity

ELYRIA, Ohio - The boyfriend of the Elyria day care worker accused of raping two infants has been charged.

James Osborne was arrested last week and was being held at the Lorain County Jail for a probation violation, tampering with records and failure to notify change of address. Osborne, a registered tier II sex offender, now faces two counts of complicity to rape in connection with the alleged abuse at ABC Kidz Child Care in Elyria.

The Lorain County Sheriff's Office arrested Osborne's 25-year-old girlfriend Heather Koon on Friday while checking on Osborne. Deputies said Osborne was violating his probation by having access to the Internet and sleeping at Koon's house without registering with authorities.

Probation officers took several electronics from the home. Deputies said evidence on Koon's laptop showed her engaging in sexual conduct with an infant.

Since then, detectives said they identified two victims.

Koon pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and her bond was set at $2 million. She left her job at ABC Kidz Child Care before the allegations surfaced.

The Lorain County Sheriff's Office said parents concerned about their child's wellbeing should call the Nord Center's Children's Advocacy Center at 440-204-4188. Anyone with information on this investigation should call 440-329-3710.
