Avon home destroyed by fire; five excape flames

AVON, Ohio - Five people escaped a fire that destroyed a home in Avon Wednesday night, the Chronicle Telegram reports.

The fire was on state Route 83 between Detroit and Miles, Avon Police told newsnet5.com. Three people, including one child, were transported to the Cleveland Clinic. 

The Chronicle Telegram reports that a man threw a rock through a first-story window to assist his fianceé's father, who had a broken hip, out of the home. The family was also helped by four bystanders, the fire department told newsnet5.com.

The home, valued at $150,000, is a complete loss, the department added.

The fire department has not determined an official cause for the fire.
