LORAIN, Ohio - Animal lovers took to the streets of Lorain on Sunday, still looking for justice in the extreme case of animal abuse involving pitbull Herbie.
Herbie is the pitbull who was found abandoned Dec. 2, 2012 barely alive in the 800 block of West 11th Street weighing only 25 pounds.
He continues to gain weight and recover at the Lorain Animal Clinic, but a veterinarian recently diagnosed him with adenocarcinoma, a non-operable, untreatable form of cancer.
Workers at the clinic say Herbie continues to eat well and is loved, and most importantly is living pain free.
Herbie now weighs 55 pounds, workers said. "His cancer has not progressed enough to interfere with his quality of life. He is happy and wags his tail daily."
Those who organized the walk hope to raise awareness and help find the person responsible for Herbie's abuse.
Between the humane society, donations and private donors, whoever comes forward with information that leads to a conviction will get an $11,000 reward.
