An Army veteran — who News 5 interviewed earlier this week after he shot an intruder who broke into his Akron home — has died from injuries he sustained in a car crash.

Craig Noggle talked to News 5's Bob Jones on Monday.

Still sore from bruises on his lower back and arm, Noggle, 66, told Jones he survived three strokes and two heart attacks before fighting for his life once again.

But Tuesday afternoon, Noggle was involved in a car crash.

Police said he drove off Interstate 77 northbound in Richfield around 2 p.m. and went down an embankment. His car then landed on Brecksville Road.

Noggle was flown by Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

The man accused of breaking into Noggle's home — 36-year-old Daniel Givens — is being held in the Summit County Jail on aggravated burglary and assault charges.
