16-year-old sought in Lorain homicide, considered armed and dangerous

Lorain police are looking for a 16-year-old boy in connection with a homicide in Lorain earlier this week.

According to Lorain police, Darius Ramey, 16, has been identified as the suspect in the murder of 31-year-old Kenneth Shinafelt. 

newsnet5.com does not typically identify juveniles. However, police are searching for Ramey and he is considered armed and dangerous. 

Shinafelt was shot and killed just before midnight on Monday in the 2300 block of Reeves Avenue.

According to police, officers have met with Ramey’s mother, who said he has been living on the streets since May.

He is known to frequent the West Side of Lorain and to hang out in the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority developments of Leavitt Homes and Westview Terrace, near Leavitt Road. 

Darius Ramey is a black male who is 6-foot 1-inches tall and weighs 140 lbs.
