WICKLIFFE, Ohio - Wickliffe Police confirm a male was shot twice in the head late Saturday morning.
Around 11:26am police responded to a report of a man shot in the 1700 block of East 290th Street in Wickliffe. Patrol Officers arrived on scene and located a 56-year-old white male victim who had been shot twice in the head. It was quickly determined that the shooting occurred inside a residence and the victim had fled to a neighbor's house. The suspect, a 53-year-old white male, was still inside the house where the shooting occurred.
Police officers surrounded the suspect's house and contacted the suspect by cell phone. At about 12:17pm the suspect exited the house and surrendered to officers. He was taken into custody without incident.
The victim is currently undergoing surgery at an area hospital and is expected to survive his injuries. Police officers remain on scene investigating the incident.
The suspect will be held in the Wickliffe City Jail and is expected to be arraigned on charges related to the shooting on Monday, April 8, 2013. His identity will be released once he is arraigned.
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of family members.
The suspect and the victim both live at the residence where the shooting occurred. A motive for the shooting has been determined but is not being released at this time.
Police officers from the cities of Euclid, Willowick and Willoughby Hills assisted at the scene.
