Warrant issued for suspect in Willoughby police chase, crash

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio - Willoughby police have issued arrest warrants after a traffic stop turned into a chase early Monday morning.

An officer tried to pull over a 1999 Dodge Caravan near the Motel 6 in Willoughby, but the driver hit the cruiser and took off, police said. Another cop car joined in the chase and was also hit by the suspect's van.

Eventually, the van went off the road, hit a utility police on East 185th Street and the driver ran off.

On Wednesday, arrest warrants were issued for Antonio L. Armstrong for felonious assault on a police officer, fleeing and obstructing official business.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task force said Armstrong may be hiding in the Collinwood area of Cleveland.

Earlier this week, police arrested Tajua Lewis, who was charged with prostitution. Willoughby police said officers found a phone at the crash site and discovered Lewis was meeting the driver at the Motel 6 for illegal sex.

When officers went back to the motel that night, they found Lewis in a room with another man who had paid her for sex.

Anyone with information on Armstrong should call 1-866-4WANTED, text the keyword "WANTED" to 847411 or email USMS.wanted@USDOJ.gov
