Thieves target multiple homes in Perry Township

PERRY, Ohio - The Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating daytime burglaries that have occurred in Perry Township over the past few days.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office said the burglaries are done quickly, just after the thieves see residents leave their homes.

A resident on Maine Avenue reported that someone broke into their home through the garage on Oct. 13. A wedding ring and flat screen TV were among the items taken. The resident said they were only gone for a few hours. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

On Oct. 15, a resident on South Ridge Road reported their home was broken into between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The resident was only gone for one hour. Electronic equipment and jewelry were taken.

Another person on South Ridge Road told deputies she heard someone in her kitchen around 6 a.m. while she was home. She said things were moved around, but nothing was taken. Deputies believe the woman scared off the intruder.

Residents in the area have seen a silver or gray older model, compact vehicle parked with the flashers on. Deputies said this vehicle may be related to the burglaries.

The sheriff's office is investigating these burglaries and encouraging all residents to report any suspicious activity.
