WILLOUGHBY, Ohio - The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, with the help of several other agencies, served search warrants at the offices of Dr. Toni Carman, 69, on Tuesday. The offices are located in Willoughby and Beachwood.
Carman's Shaker Heights home was also searched as a result of the investigation.
Ohio State Board of Pharmacy officials said the investigation started in August. The Pharmacy Board received a complaint by a pharmacist in regard to what police said was questionable prescribing of controlled substances to a patient.
"Based on the medication and also the fact the same person was brining in numerous prescriptions with different names on it," said Jim Reyes, with the Pharmacy Board.
Officials said police took medical records and prescription drugs from Carman's home and offices.
Carman and the patient were not arrested or charged on Tuesday. The case will be presented to the prosecutor's office.
