Red Cross pays tribute to local heroes of Lake and Geauga counties; 9 awards given

Courage compassion and character are hallmarks

MENTOR, Ohio - The American Red Cross of Northeast Ohio held its 2013 hero award ceremony for Lake and Geauga counties at a breakfast at LaMalfa party center in Mentor Thursday.

Nine awards were given out in total. Eight Hero awards ranging from executive volunteering, local health organizations, a food pantry, school kids raising money for disasters and local volunteers responding to national crisis.

The 2013 Community Leadership award was given to Jack Sherwin for his many years of support to the Red Cross and to the many agencies whom it serves.
