A man from Geneva was arrested after breaking several car and home windows, and threatening a resident and officers, according to police.
On Monday, Madison Township police were dispatched to Northridge Road and Stoneyridge Drive for a report a man breaking the windows of a car.
When police arrived the man, described as wearing a red sweatshirt, was gone. While checking the area for the suspect, police received reports of a man breaking out the windows of a residence in James Place trailer park.
Officers located the man attempting to enter an Autumn Ridge home through a window he had broken. When confronted by police, he fled on foot. He was later located a short distance away on a porch of another home. Police said he was yelling, swearing, and threatening officers. He was very agitated and appeared to be on drugs. He continued to yell profanities and make erratic statements until he was tased after attempting to resist arrest.
Police learned the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Mason Dryden, of Geneva, had allegedly broken the windows at a second home on Autumn Ridge and broke into the garage. When the 62-year-old resident confronted him, police were told Dryden threatened to kill him and tried to hit the resident with a 15 lb. dumbbell stolen from the garage.
Dryden is also suspected of entering a car of a third Autumn Ridge resident and took her cane to break the windshield of the car, police said.
Officers booked Dryden into the Lake County Jail on numerous charges including criminal damaging, burglary, breaking and entering, and assault. He was arraigned in Painesville Municipal Court on Tuesday and was given a $15,000 bond.
Dryden is scheduled to appear in Painesville Municipal Court again on February 1 at 1 p.m.
