Mentor police are searching for a truck driver who they want to ask a few questions about dumping a mystery substance on the intersection of State Route 306 and Tyler Blvd.

A photo taken by the Mentor Fire Department shows two cars stuck in what callers to police described as a gray muck, or gray mud like material.

As traffic stopped to try to go around the unknown substance covering three lanes, there was a three car accident; no one was injured.

Then a hazmat team had to be called out. They determined the material wasn't toxic, but even they weren't sure what it was.

In a report, even the police describe it as an unknown debris.

Despite at least a dozen calls from different drivers to 911, only one woman said she saw the truck that dropped it's mystery load on the road.

Some drivers told police they've tried unsuccessfully to wash the stuff off of their cars.

Other callers to 911 could only guess that it was wet cement.

According to Mentor police, the trucker could be cited for dumping an unsecured load.

Mentor police want anyone with information to call them.
