A man was kicked out of the Radisson and arrested after he was found with a fake police badge, drugs, and a gun, authorities reported on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Eastlake officers were dispatched to the Radisson Hotel to help with removing a man from the property.

Next week, that  hotel will house delegates for the Republican National Convention but Eastlake Police do not believe there is a connection to the event. "There is nothing that we have learned in our investigation that he was there specifically for what is coming up next week," said Eastlake Police Chief Larry Reik.

"We are a delegation hotel and we are at a heightened state of awareness. As soon as there was an inkling of a problem we alerted police," Radisson Hotel General Manager Victoria Hudson said.

Authorities said the hotel requested that officers make sure the man left the property after he denied to pay and possible drug paraphernalia was discovered in his room.

When police arrived, the man was located and identified as Jamshed Ahmed, 43, of Rocky River.

During the investigation, a stolen firearm, suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana were located. A "special police" badge was also found during the search.

Ahmed was charged with possession of drugs, having weapon under disability, and receiving stolen property. More charges are pending results from the Lake County Crime Lab.

Officials said Ahmed is being held on a $50,000 bond and is housed at Lake County Jail.

The Radisson Hotel did not return our calls for comment.
