WILLOUGHBY, Ohio - An Eastlake man was ejected from his vehicle Saturday afternoon after crashing into three utility poles and then a tree.
The single vehicle accident happened around 4 p.m. on State Route 84, east of Shankland Road.
Police said Benjamin D. Christman, 35, drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a First Energy utility pole head-on, causing it to snap in two.
Christman continued to drive striking two other metal sidewalk poles with the driver side of his vehicle.
Police said as Christman's car spun off of the tree, the driver side door dug into the ground forcing it open. That's when he was ejected.
Paramedics responded to the scene to transported Christman to Lake West Medical Center. He was later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center to be treated.
Police said Christman is currently listed in stable condition.
The Willoughby Police Department is currently investigating the crash.
