Local skaters, dancers to perform with stars in Mentor

MENTOR, Ohio - It's a dream for most young figure skaters and dancers to see their idols perform in person. On Saturday, a group of local skaters and dancers will actually have the chance to perform alongside them.

For the second year in a row, local figure skater Parker Pennington has organized "Skate Dance Dream" – a figure skating and dance show that incorporates local talent with nationally recognized skating and dance stars.

Pennington, a four-time U.S. Figure Skating champion, first developed this unique concept in 2011 with the first Skate Dance Dream show which took place in Wooster.

Skate Dance Dream will feature figure skaters Ross Miner (2-Time U.S. National Bronze medalist and World Team member); Lynn Kriengkrairut & Logan Giulietti-Schmitt (U.S. National Pewter medalist in ice dancing); Sean Rabbitt (U.S. National Senior Men's competitor and Producer of Skater's Care) and dancer Comfort Fedoke (Season 7 & 8 All Star and Season 4, top 8 finalist from Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance)."

Joining the stars will be more than 100 of the best local figure skating and dance
talent, including skaters from the Mentor Figure Skating Club and The Dance Stop Studio.

The show will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mentor Civic Arena.

What makes Skate Dance Dream unique is the combination of figure skating and dance in one show. Participants will take part in rehearsals, seminars, workshops and meet and greets with the stars both Friday and Saturday.

"The main goal in developing this show and future Skate Dance Dream shows is to help skating and dance grow not just within local communities, but across the country as a whole," Pennington said in a press release. "Working with the Mentor Figure Skating Club and The Dance Stop Studio has been an honor for us and we are delighted to showcase some of their budding talents."
