Heroin addiction led Mitchell A. Gladding to burglarize 6 homes around Madison Township, police say

MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Madison Township Police said Saturday they have arrested a second man, a 28-year-old North Perry resident, in connection with a series of burglaries in the area. His name is not yet being released pending official charges.

Police said they arrested the first suspect on October 31. Motivated by his heroin addiction, 36-year-old Mitchell A. Gladding of  Madison Township burglarized six Lake County homes over the past several weeks.

Gladding is now in jail, charged with felony burglary and receiving stolen property, according to a Madison Township police news release.

Police say they connected Gladding and the second suspect to two home burglaries in Madison Township, two in Madison Village, one in North Perry Village and one in Perry Township.

Some of the stolen property has been recovered.

Gladding's arraignment was Friday in Painesville Municipal Court.

The investigation continues and the law enforcement agencies anticipate charges for two other individuals will be filed as a result of their involvement in the crimes.
