Firefighters rescue 2 adults from Mentor Lagoons Tuesday after their canoe overturned

MENTOR, Ohio - Firefighters rescued two young adults Tuesday from the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve, according to the Mentor Fire Department.

Firefighters said the victims’ canoe overturned in the waters of Lake Erie at the lagoon near Harbor Drive in Mentor.

When the fire department arrived at the scene, the two victims had drifted off about 150 yards in Lake Erie, while holding on to their canoe.

Firefighters used ropes and the Mentor Police Department used a boat to save the two victims. The Coast Guard also responded.

The victims were treated at the scene, refused transport.
