Euclid man faints during Eastlake Walmart shoplifting attempt, police say

EASTLAKE, Ohio - An Euclid man fell to the floor feinting illness at an Eastlake Walmart during a shoplifting attempt, police said.

The 63-year-old man fainted after the store's loss prevention team approached the man, according to Eastlake Police. Soon after, he fled the store and ran through the parking lot.

Police officers found the man fleeing through the parking lot of Charter One bank. He initially resisted arrest but was taken into custody, police said.

He was arrested for shoplifting gloves and a 32-inch flat-screen television from the store, according to police. The items totaled nearly $300.

Police said the man faces charges of theft, resisting arrest and failure to appear for a warrant. The warrant was issued through Eastlake Police for the theft of $105 gloves in 2009.
