Al Zwegat, Fire Chief of the Willoughby Fire Department, said at one time there was fire on all three floors of the house.

No one was home when the fire started, according to officials.

Due to the fire’s intensity, crews called for mutual aid and nearly 10 other departments responded to help.

Fire officials confirm at least 24 cats died in the fire, most likely from smoke inhalation.
