Snowmobile strikes tree, killing Norwalk man Saturday

NORWALK, Ohio - Authorities say a 44-year-old man has killed in a weekend snowmobile accident in northern Ohio.

The Sandusky Register  reports that Gary Jenkins of Norwalk was killed late Saturday when the snowmobile he was riding struck a culvert and threw him south of Sandusky.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the 1997 Ski-Doo snowmobile struck a tree after hitting the culvert. The Huron County coroner pronounced Jenkins -- who was wearing a helmet -- dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
