NORWALK, Ohio - A Norwalk plant is shutting down its operations.
Janesville Acoustics said Thursday it will close down the facility located at 405 Industrial Parkway by the end of 2014, resulting in a loss of 270 hourly and 26 salaried jobs.
Reasons for the closure include market pressures, including increased demand from customers to manufacture in closer proximity to their operations. The company plans to select a new plant in Kansas, Missouri or Nebraska before the close of 2013, a location within reach of the assembly plants of many of their current customers.
The earliest signs of the Norwalk phasing out will begin in the fall.
Janesville Acoustics, a producer of acoustical and thermal fiber insulation and molded fiber products, has had the plant in Norwalk for more than 20 years.
Headquartered in Wisconsin, the company employs more than 4,100 individuals in 15 countries.
