Two men have been arrested in connection to a slew of home burglaries across northeast Ohio.

The Aurora Police Department reported it was investigating a series of home burglaries that started in September. Since, similar burglaries have been reported in Aurora as well as in communities from Portage, Summit, Geauga, and Cuyahoga counties.

On Dec. 6, Bainbridge Township police warned residents about a series of home burglaries

Police said on Dec. 7, an Aurora home was burglarized. Police set up surveillance to follow up on investigative leads. Members of the Aurora Police Department along with Bainbridge, Twinsburg, Geauga County and the Portage County Sheriff's Office began surveillance on multiple suspects and locations.

As a result, detectives were able to identify items stolen during the various burglaries.

On Dec. 8, police arrested Joseph Ulatowski, 42, and Shawn Wegener, 23, both of Streetsboro. The men were traveling back from Cleveland on Interstate 480 when they were apprehended.

A search of their residence by police revealed hundreds of items suspected of being stolen in other burglaries.

Both men were charged with multiple counts of burglary and booked in Portage County Jail. They are currently being held on bond.

Tuesday, police were able to identify property that linked the two to at least eight other burglaries.
