Family: Last hospitalized victim from Chardon High shooting ‘doing better'

CHARDON, Ohio - The family of Nick Walczak – the last hospitalized victim of Monday's shooting rampage at Chardon High School – is improving, his family said.

The family told NewsChannel5 Wednesday over the phone that Walczak's condition "is improving." They did not want to talk on camera.

He was taken to Hillcrest Hospital after he was shot at the school Monday morning. The hospital Wednesday afternoon said he remains in serious condition.

The other student taken to Hillcrest with Walczak was Joy Rickers. She was treated and released Tuesday.

Three other students hit by gunfire in the shooting, Daniel Parmertor, Demetrius Hewlin and Russell King Jr., were all taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where all three died.

Thomas "TJ" Lane, 17, was arrested a little more than an hour after the shooting. His first court appearance was Tuesday.

Keep checking for more information.
