The Chardon Living Memorial Park, created to honor the lives lost five years ago in a horrific school shooting, has been five years in the making.

On February 27th, 2012 three students were shot and killed, three others hurt, by 17-year-old TJ Lane.

Community leaders have earned more than $400,000 through fundraising efforts.

A local contractor, with Chardon's Cold Harbor, is volunteering his time and working with the city to gear up for the project.

On Monday News 5 learned they plan to start up this spring. All of the playground and workout equipment pictured in the renderings has been purchased.

The park will also feature a formal memorial with three commemorative plaques for Danny Parmertor, Demetrius Hewlin, and Russell King Jr.

In continuing the theme of a community moving forward- a playground, fitness area, benches, and trail through the woods are also part of the plan while incorporating what's already on the land, which are a chalet, sledding hill, and picnic area.
