COLUMBUS, Ohio - Although Chardon High School has no athletes competing at the OHSAA Wrestling State Tournament this weekend, the Hilltoppers are on the minds of many in Columbus.
Several wrestlers from other Ohio high schools have added Chardon's initials "CHS" to their singlets as a gesture of support, following Monday's shooting that claimed the lives of three students and injured two others.
According to the Chardon Wrestling Facebook page, at some point during State Championships, OHSAA will ask for a moment of silence, to recognize the victims Daniel Parmertor, 16, Demetrius Hewlin, 16, and Russell King Jr., 17.
Parmertor wrestled during his days at Chardon Middle School. His grandfather, Domenick Iammarino, was a longtime Beachwood High School wrestling coach.
