Boil alert lifted

BAINBRIDGE, Ohio - A city wide boil alert for Bainbridge was lifted Monday after a car hit a fire hydrant on Chagrin Road causing a water main break late Saturday afternoon.

The Geauga County Department of Water Resources said the car hit the fire hydrant at 8008 Chagrin Road, causing a water main break and the Bainbridge Water tower to drain.

The County Water Resource’s crews repaired the break and water samples were taken on Saturday evening at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Following EPA regulations, a boil alert has been put in place for all Bainbridge Water System customers of the Geauga County Department of Water Resources until these test results are analyzed within 24 hours.

Negative test results for bacteria will lift this boil alert.

Approximately 500 customers are affected by this.
