The Erie County Sheriff is investigating a homicide after a body was found in a burning car Sunday

MILAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Erie County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide after a body was found in a burning car Sunday morning.

Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth said a passing motorist spotted a burning vehicle around 6 a.m.

The vehicle was located in the Milan wildlife area, approximately 100 yards east of Lovers Lane Road in Milan Township.

The vehicle was destroyed by the fire and a body was found badly burned inside of it.

Once the Sheriff's Office completes their investigation on scene the body will be transported to the Lucas County Medical Examiner's Office in Toledo for autopsy and possible identification.

The case remains under investigation at this time and anyone with information is asked to call the Erie County Sheriff's Office at 419-625-7951.
