A Sandusky man died after he struck a guardrail when two vehicles crashed at around 8:40 p.m. Monday.

Gerold O. Hebner, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene on Barrett Road just east of Bay View, according to Sandusky Highway Patrol.

A 30-year-old man and a 14-month old girl, both from Norwalk, were also involved in the accident. The man had minor injuries and the child had none.

The Norwalk man was driving westbound on Barrett Road with the child belted in a safety seat in his Chevrolet Cruze when he drove left of the road's center and struck Hebner's Chevrolet HHR head on, according to police.

Following the collision, Hebner's car went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail.

Hebner was transported to Ransom Funeral Home in Castalia.
