A man died and an 11-year-old boy was hurt in a one-vehicle crash in Florence Township Saturday night, authorities said.

Joe Milks, Jr., 48, of Wakeman, was driving a Dodge Ram pick-up truck westbound on state Route 313 - approximately one mile west of state Route 60 - just after 10 p.m. when Milks drove left of center, drove off the side of the roadway into a ditch and struck a tree.

Milks suffered "severe" injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, said the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The 11-year-old, who was in the passenger seat at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Both victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Alcohol and drug use do not appear to be factors in the crash, authorities said. The crash is under investigation.
