Furry Elementary School was evacuated due to a bomb threat that may include surrounding houses, according to Perkins Township Police Department.
The school was given an "all clear" by police at around 3 p.m, two hours after the evacuation was issued.
Officers investigated the school using bomb sniffing dogs and did not locate anything of interest.
Police released a statement saying the bomb threat Friday appeared to be connected to threats throughout Ohio schools:
We are issuing an "all clear" for Furry School at this time. The Furry Elementary buildings and property have been checked by police and bomb sniffing dogs with nothing being located. The Furry School incident appears to be related to multiple bomb threats throughout Ohio schools and other states on the east coast at this time. Multiple agencies are investigating the matter.
During the investigation, police asked surrounding neighbors to evacuate their homes until further notice.
Students were bused to the American Legion on Hayes Avenue where parents picked them up.
Police said the incident was handled as smoothly as possible by staff, students and police:
We want to commend the Furry Elementary Administration Staff today as they did a phenomenal job with making sure the children were kept safe during this incident. The children appeared calm and orderly as the staff followed protocols to get the children safe to a safe location. Great Job by all the staff and local law enforcement that assisted the Perkins Police department today.
