HURON, Ohio - Officials in northern Ohio are trying to determine what sickened dozens of people during a conference for health workers at a resort along Lake Erie.
The Sandusky Register says at least 44 people reported some illness after the convention for several hundred people last week at the Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron.
Environmental health director Bob England of the Erie County Health Department says it's too early to say whether the illness spread from food, from an infected individual or from another source. He says samples of food served at the meeting are being tested, and officials are taking a look at how the food was prepared.
County health commissioner Pete Schade says officials also are seeking clues in questionnaires completed by about one-third of the attendees.
