Sandusky police have identified the seven-year-old boy who was shot in a Sandusky home Sunday and flown to a Cleveland hospital for treatment.

Jordy Clinton was shot at 219 Center Street. He was transported to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, according to the Erie County Sheriff's Office. A hospital spokesperson said he is in critical but stable condition.

“He shot himself in the neck?" asked the dispatcher to the 911 caller. "Yes, please hurry up,” he responded. The 911 call was obtained by the Sandusky Register.

"Is he breathing?" asked the dispatcher to the 911 caller. "Yes, yes, he’s conscious," he responded.

The two men who live at the residence where the shooting happened said the boy shot himself with a gun he found in the attic. They said they did not know there was a gun there and have reached out to the landlord about it.

“Whose gun is it?" asked the dispatcher. "I don’t know," said the caller.

“We do not know for sure if it is a self-inflicted wound," said Lt. Richard Braun of the Sandusky Police Department. "It very well may be the case. It’s going to be a while before we can determine that.”

Braun said his department is questioning the two men who were in the home at the time of the incident. No arrests have been made.

The men inside said the boy is a family friend and does not reside at the residence where the shooting happened.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting Sandusky police with the investigation.
