VERMILION, Ohio - The city of Vermilion issued a boil alert on Saturday.
An employee at the Water & Sewer Service Plant said ground water got into the city's clear well, a water storage tank.
Work was being done on the well when it rained, causing the need for a boil alert.
The city hopes to use water from neighboring Lorain and Erie Counties. Once approved, the EPA will require 18 hours of testing before residents can use the water again. It is hoped the all clear can be given late Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012.
Residents can check the status of the alert on the City of Vermilion website .
