86-year-old man's death being investigated as homicide after fire at Sandusky home

SANDUSKY, Ohio - An 86-year-old man was found dead inside a Sandusky home that was on fire Tuesday and authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Police and firefighters responded to the fire in the 2200 block of Campbell Street at 8:29 p.m.

An elderly woman arrived at the home a short time after the fire was extinguished and it was determined her husband could possibly be inside.

Sandusky fire determined the blaze was suspicious as a result of several possible points of origin. George Martin, 86, was found inside them home, according to police.

The Erie County Medical Examiner was at the scene, alone with detectives, who observed what appeared to be multiple stab wounds to the victim’s body.

Sandusky police said they are investigating Martin’s death a homicide and ask that anyone with information contact the SPD detective bureau at 419-627-5877.
