Two people were injured after a flat tire caused a motorcycle accident in Groton Township Sunday.

The driver, Jeremy C. Newsome, 37, of Waverly and his passenger, Calista M. Newsome, 39, of Rittman were transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center. But because of the extent of their injuries, they were later flown to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, according to state highway patrol's Sandusky Post.

Newsome was reportedly driving northbound on State Route 4 near Strecker Road at around 2:35 p.m. when his Yamaha's tire went flat and he lost control. The motorcycle crossed into the southbound lanes and went off the left of the roadway, Sandusky Post stated.

The crash is under investigation.

This is the second motorcycle accident with injuries following a flat tire reported in two days in Northeast Ohio. An Elyria woman was killed Saturday after a motorcycle she was a passenger on had a flat tire.
