SANDUSKY, Ohio - Two people were injured Saturday night by a ride at the Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky.
A cable on the Skyhawk swing ride's carriages disconnected at around 10 p.m., according to a Cedar Point spokesperson.
The cable then came in contact with two guests. One victim was treated and released at the scene. The other was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, the spokesperson adds.
Ride crews had immediately shut down the Skyhawk ride and notified the park's emergency personnel of the incident.
Cedar Point released a statement to NewsChannel5 regarding safety.
Safety is our top priority at Cedar Point. Skyhawk will remain closed until our investigation is complete and the ride can safely reopen.
The ride opened in 2006.
